Sundanese is native language at west java. Sundanese language was happen before Indonesian language too. Sundanese languages at this time begin forgotten by young people, cause of that reasons government take several policy for keep Sundanese language from disappearing. The effort of West Java government has a good result. Sundanese language begin develop to better. Why because the government carry out language revitalization in Sundanese language. Based on Michael E Krauss (1980) native language can coherent and develop together with awareness of the native people that use that language. Based on article from Jakarta Pos Adeng Chaedar Alwasilah use their knowledge for keeping sundanese language from disappears. In 2001 he is following International Conference on Sundanese Culture, pioneered by renowned poet Ajip Rosidi in Bandung, He was also the driving force behind the establishment of the Center for Sundanese Study, in which he served as vice chairman in 2002, and for revitalization sundanese language he use sundanese in his dissertation. From that article, I have five characteristics of successful language revitalization efforts that was use in revitalization sundanese language.
First is “solidarity”, because if native people want to preserve their language they must have solidarity for keeping and developing their language. This solidarity become realization with Organization of Sundanese people (Paguyuban Urang Sunda) So struggle for keeping sundanese language can operate together.
Second is “policy”, because not only native people that fight to keeping their language, government must help too by make a policy about that language.
Third is “apply”. We can apply the native language in school subject. With this way language will be exist and would not disappear for example a government of west java begin enter Sundanese language in school subject for keeping Sundanese language and introduce Sundanese language to young people.
Fourth is “media”, we can use media for introduce native language and keep that language not to forgotten, for example “Kabayan” movie and “Keluarga Cemara” movie. That movie use for introduce Sundanese language.
And the last is “population”, we can find many Sundanese people in many island in Indonesia when they move from west java they bring Sundanese language too, so every people can know about Sundanese language and keep at think Sundanese language still survive from disappearing.
After the five language revitalization applied, Sundanese language can develop and can along exist until now.
